BOBA "Bubble Tea" Run
Bubble Tea, also known as"BOBA" tea or pearl milk tea, has become a popular drink worldwide in recent years. But where did this unique and delicious drink originate?
The history of bubble tea can be traced back to Taiwan in the 1980s. It was invented by a tea shop owner named Liu Han-Chieh, who was looking for a way to make his tea shop stand out from the competition. He came up with the idea of adding small tapioca balls, also known as "pearls" or "boba," to his tea drinks.
The idea caught on quickly and soon other tea shops began to offer their own versions of the drink. In the 1990s, bubble tea began to spread beyond Taiwan and became popular in other parts of Asia, including China, Hong Kong, and Japan.
In the early 2000s, bubble tea made its way to the United States and other parts of the world. Its popularity has continued to grow, and today you can find bubble tea shops in many cities around the globe.
The basic recipe for bubble tea consists of tea, milk, sugar, and tapioca pearls. The tea can be either black or green tea, and the milk can be dairy or non-dairy, such as almond or soy milk.
The tapioca pearls are small, chewy balls made from tapioca starch and can come in various flavors, including classic black, honeydew, and strawberry. Over the years, bubble tea has evolved to include a wide range of flavors and variations. Some shops offer fruit-based drinks, while others have added toppings such as fruit jellies, aloe vera, or even ice cream.
All in all, bubble tea has a rich history that began in Taiwan in the 1980s and has spread to become a popular drink worldwide. It is a unique combination of tea, milk, sugar, and tapioca pearls that has captured the hearts (and taste buds) of many, and its continued popularity shows no signs of slowing down.

The Review
Exploring the Boba Tea Adventure: Gong Cha, Kung Fu Tea, and More
We made our way excitedly, to Gong Cha and Kung Fu Tea, two renowned boba tea establishments located in Philadelphia's Chinatown.
At Gong Cha, we ordered the tantalizing Mango Sparkling drink, which featured a delightful combination of mango flavor and a hint of carbonation. We were pleasantly surprised by the addition of star-shaped toppings that added a unique twist to the drink. As a group we rated the Mango Sparkling drink four and a half pretzels out of five, highlighting their immense satisfaction with its taste and presentation.
Next, we tried Kung Fu Tea's Cookie Mint and Dream Smoothie. While we enjoyed the flavor, they found it slightly lacking in sweetness, describing it as bitter. This particular drink received two pretzels out of five. Despite this, they emphasized their love for the Mango Sparkling drink from Gong Cha, which left a lasting impression.
Let's recall a past experience at Tiger Sugar, a boba tea spot located in H Mart, Philadelphia. Also, another location is in Philly's Chinatown. I remember enjoying a delicious Boba drink with a cocoa milk base and Oreo crumbles on top. The rich flavor and attention to detail impressed them, and they highly recommended Tiger Sugar to other boba tea enthusiasts, awarding it a stellar five pretzels out of five.
Additionally, we briefly mentioned their encounters with corn dogs at the food hall in H Mart. They were pleasantly surprised by the unique twist on a classic snack, with mozzarella filling surrounding a hot dog. They enjoyed the corn dogs, rating them four and a half pretzels out of five.
