We're excited to share our recent experience at Iron Hill Brewery, a popular spot in Philadelphia. Join us as we delve into the atmosphere, menu, and overall vibe of this casual eatery.
Iron Hill Brewery offers a free-flowing and casual environment. This post aims to bring you authentic experiences from three regular Philly residents who love exploring the local food scene. The restaurant attracts a diverse crowd, including after-work visitors and tourists, creating a down-to-earth ambiance where striking up conversations with fellow patrons is easy.
Menu Highlights:
Our visits to Iron Hill Brewery provided us with a chance to sample various dishes. One standout item was the crispy pork sandwich, featuring smoked gouda, crispy onion strings, and brown sugar barbecue sauce, all nestled in a potato roll. While enjoyable, it didn't deliver the explosion of flavors we anticipated. This sandwich receives a rating of two pretzels.
Another favorite dish was the fish tacos, available either sautéed or beer-battered with a Chipotle aioli. The beer-battered fish, reminiscent of New England-style cod, stole the show. With the perfect blend of flavors and textures, we happily award the fish tacos four pretzels.
Iron Hill Brewery also offers delectable Cheesesteak egg rolls and wings. Although not extraordinary, these appetizers were satisfying and worth trying. Additionally, their green Caesar salad, featuring shaved Brussels sprouts (although we preferred them roasted), proved to be a refreshing and tasty choice, earning it a solid four pretzels. This salad is no longer on the menu.
Iron Hill Brewery has its own selection of brews, alongside other local and seasonal options. While the specific beers we enjoyed aren't currently listed on their menu, we recall their high quality and distinctive flavors. One noteworthy mention is a citrus-infused IPA that left a lasting impression. However, the absence of these beers from the current menu suggests they might have been seasonal offerings.
Service and Staff:
During our visits, we encountered both friendly and eccentric staff members. One bartender stood out with unusual behavior, seemingly on edge and waiting for confrontation. Despite our polite requests, the bartender exhibited unexpected reactions, creating an awkward atmosphere. However, we understand that individual experiences can vary, and this encounter shouldn't overshadow the overall service quality.

While some dishes left us wanting more, their fish tacos and green Caesar salad proved to be standout options.
